How location shapes a placement
Where a rotation happens affects licensure, travel, scheduling, and how many preceptors can take you. Here is how each of those works.
Search radius
You set how far you are willing to travel when you create a request, and matching respects it. Widening the radius is the single most effective change when a search returns nothing — a rotation 40 miles away is often the difference between placed and not.
State licensure
Your preceptor must be licensed in the state where the rotation happens, and your programme may require the placement to be in the state where you intend to practise. Both constraints are applied during matching rather than discovered at approval.
Time zones
Shifts are stored as local times against the site's own time zone. A 07:00 start is 07:00 at the site, whatever device you are looking at it on and wherever you are when you check.
Telehealth and hybrid
Some rotations can be delivered partly or wholly by telehealth, which widens your options considerably. Whether that counts toward your requirements is your school's decision, and it is recorded on your request so matching honours it.
Rural and underserved areas
Placements outside metropolitan areas often have more preceptor availability and fewer competing students, but longer onboarding lead times. If you can travel, say so — it materially changes what we can find.
Why there is no site directory here
Site listings are not public
The practical consequence is that this page cannot tell you whether we can place you in your city — only a real request against your dates and radius can. That is a worse marketing page and a more honest one.
Location questions
Which cities and states do you cover?
We do not publish a coverage map, because coverage is not a fixed footprint — it is wherever verified preceptors currently have availability, which changes weekly. Create a request with your location and radius and you will get a real answer for your area rather than a marketing map.
Why do you not list your clinical sites?
Because that is our partners' information, not ours to publish. Listing sites by city would expose which organisations host students and, at a site with a single preceptor, effectively identify that person. Site details are released to a student after mutual acceptance.
Can I do a rotation in a different state from my school?
Often yes, but it depends on your programme's rules and on state licensure. Your school's placement rules are applied to your request, so a cross-state placement your programme would not accept is filtered out before you see it.
How far should I be willing to travel?
There is no right answer, but the trade-off is real: a wider radius means more candidates and a longer commute for the length of the rotation. Set it honestly — matching against a radius you will not actually drive wastes everyone's time.
